In a major twist in Bodoland politics, President of Bodo Womens’ Justice Forum (BWJF) Anjali Daimary on Monday formally joined the Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) at Udalguri.Daimary joined BPF in the presence of BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, Minister Chandan Brahma, Rihon Daimary, and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary. Daimary was felicitated and accorded a warm welcome by the BPF in a grand ceremony.
Anjali Daimary is the younger sister of National Democratic Front of Bodoland chairman Ranjan Daimary. She has been fighting for the cause of the Bodo people for a long time. She has been also fighting a legal battle for her brother’s release since his arrest. She is a professor by profession.
Daimary joining the BPF is a big boost for the party. The BPF is likely to field her as their candidate in the ensuing 2021 state assembly elections.
