'Bihu' added as elective subject by Assam Board from 2020

Guwahati, May 11, 2019:

In a bid to conserving the state’s culture, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has announced the introduction of “Bihu” as an elective subject for the students of classes XI and XII.

The subject is to be introduced from the next session, i.e. 2019-2020 for the students as an additional subject.

Students choosing the subject will have to attend the examination of 100 marks question paper which would include both theory and practical.

The AHSEC organized a workshop with a number of Bihu experts and academicians to chalk out a roadmap for the same and also to deliberate on the content of Bihu textbook and the syllabus. Different segments of Bihu like the dance, instrument, etc will all find a place in the curriculum.
