Assam's Rajya Sabha MP and Bodo People's Front (BPF) politician Biswajit Daimary on Wednesday wrote to as many as three Union Ministers to raise some issues relating to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), and asked the Central Government to fulfil some promises made to the Bodo community.
In the first letter, he urged the honourable Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar for the modernization of the existing All India Radio Station Center and Doordarsan Kendra of Kokrajhar.
There is a urgent need of Radio Center and Doordarsan Kendra for the publicity of various programs and information in Bodo Language. The present AIR centre in Kokrajhar is not functioning properly and the AIR Guwahati is not telecasting their program in Bodo Language so there is utmost need of modernization of all India Radio Station Center and Doordarsan Kendra of Kokrajhar, he said.
His second letter was addressed to the Minister of state (Ind), Ministry of Culture, Prahlad Singh Patel, for the establishment of a 'Bodo Museum-cum-Language and Cultural Study Center' at Kokrajhar.
He said that in January 2019, Cabinet had announced the construction of the cultural center community as well assured by the Central Government during the time of Bodo Accord, 2003.
Biswajit Daimary said that the Bodo community is a distinct community with their unique religion, tradition, and custom of the Bodo are very rich. "But unfortunately, for the protection and promotion of this culture, language, religion, the sufficient and adequate work have not been done so it will fulfil the requirement of decades", he said.
He further urged to Piyush Goyal, Railway Ministry of India for renaming a superfast train as 'Aronai Express'. In January 2019, The Union cabinet of government of India had decided to rename a super fast train passing through Bodoland territorial Council as 'Aronai Express' to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the Bodo community.
“The Aronai is a scarf worn by both men and women in different ways according to occasion it is a very prestigious scarf of Bodo Community which is offered to someone as a symbol of love and respect. The decision of the cabinet to rename a super fast train as an Aronai is a great respect to Bodo community", Biswajit Dimary added.
