GUWAHATI: Ranjeet Das, Atul Bora, and Pramod Boro, the presidents of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), today reiterated their commitment towards the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), while pointing out the developmental works undertaken by the alliance partners in Assam ahead of the polls.
Ranjeet Dass, the BJP president, pointed out that the BJP has accomplished many developmental tasks and fared better the Congress.
"In all directions, our government has been a resounding success. Therefore, people believe in the BJP, which will be supported by the UPPL and the AGP."
Atul Bora, the president of the AGP, said that the three parties have stitched an alliance "just like the public wanted."
"The AGP workers will help the BJP and UPPL candidates where they are not contesting. Every worker wants to support candidates from their own party. However. compromises have to be made in alliances. We have chosen this path to defeat the Congress-AIUDF grand alliance. I believe that the people of the state will support us and we seek their blessings," said Bora.
“We are a new party and have come forward with a regionalist sentiment. Now, we are going to contest in tandem with a national party. The UPPL has already undertaken several initiatives to bring about a permanent solution for the Bodo people. For 40 years, there was great unrest in the Bodo-dominated region. However, the NDA signed two treaties — in 2003 and 2020 — with the aim of ushering peace into the region. We also have to thank the NDA for the setting up of a central university here. They have also done much to usher in peace. As UPPL, we have a commitment towards the people and therefore, we have joined the AGP and BJP,” Promod Boro said.
