Guwahati, November 14, 2018:

The BJP in Assam on Wednesday alleged that a former Congress minister of the state was trying to create tension over the “Hindu Bangladeshi” issue.

Party spokesman Jayanta Malla Baruah said, “The BJP will not let Assam to become another Tripura or Kashmir. The AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) and the Congress are trying to make Assam second Kashmir. If the people do not understand this, then (AIUDF chief) Badruddin Ajmal will one day become the Chief Minister of Assam. The Muslim population has risen up to 36 per cent in the state”.

He added, “Some organizations are spreading rumours that 1.9 crore Hindu immigrants will migrate to Assam from Bangladesh if the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, is passed. Why are they agitating on the roads and not going to the court? The Constitution of India itself says the Hindus have to be protected if they are in danger. Opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 amounts to opposing the Constitution. Several organisations were born with the black money of the Congress”.
