The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi has condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government as “fascist” due to the thrashing of democratic protestors of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Gogoi took to social media platform Twitter to express his views over the recent incident when the protestors waving black flags against Finance Minister Himanta Biwas Sarma at Bheraniya in Nalbari
Tweet one:
What happened today at #Ghagrapar, #Nalbari is an inhuman act by the miscreants of the #BJP. Thrashing a democratic protest in a #fascist manner against the will of the indigenous people is truly pathetic.
Tweet two:
When any government goes against the will of the people, they are always given n appropriate lesson. We will never tolerate such fascist acts. Demeaning us will only result in throwing da anti-indigenous, communal forces out of #Assam @himantabiswa @sarbanandsonwal @BJP4Assam
It may be mentioned that following the incident in Nalbari, the AASU has staged protests throughout the state burning effigies of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal as well as Himanta Biswa Sarma.
