Guwahati, November 1, 2018:

BJP’s Dispur MLA, Atul Bora, on Thursday came down heavily on Assam’s BJP-led coalition government for wasting money to organise the Namami Brahmaputra festival.

He said the government could have purchased some ferries with the money it had spend to organise the festival.

The motormouth MLA said he has no problem criticising the state government even as he said that he was not afraid of being suspended or expelled by the BJP for his criticism of the government.

The Namami Brahmaputra festival, held from March 31 to April 4, 2017, entailed a budget of Rs.14 crore. It celebrated the beauty of the mighty river. Organised by the Assam government, it was inaugurated by the then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. The event was held in 21 districts across the state touched by the Brahmaputra.
