Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shiladitya Dev has lashed out after the Supreme Court ordaining the transfer of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) Coordinator Prateek Hajela to Madhya Pradesh.
While talking to mediapersons on Saturday, Shiladitya had said that Hajela has "run away" from Assam, and added that since lakhs of Bangladeshi nationals have been included in the NRC, Hajela is trying to wipe his hands clean of the blunder. At the same time, Shiladitya has also alleged that Hajela had demanded the transfer himself.
Shiladitya's claim suggests that there is a greater conspiracy afoot to transfer Hajela, as the Government have been aware of the transfer of the NRC Coordinator all along.
Raising the question of threats to Hajela's life, Shiladitya said, "Who will kill him? All the people who could possibly have killed him have already been included in the NRC."
"Is he afraid that the Government will take action against him? Because of his injustices to the common citizens of Assam, we are prepared to go search for him in America and London for justice to prevail", Shiladitya added.

It may be mentioned here that Shiladitya has long been accusing the Assam NRC coordinator of running a "one-man show" and allowing Bangladeshi immigrants to attain citizenship in Assam.
Recently, Dev had alleged that Hajela had "conspired" against the inclusion of Hindus in the final draft NRC and instead ensured that Bangladeshi Muslims were included in the NRC.
Shiladitya's claims that the Government could possibly have known about Hajela's transfer beforehand, and acquiesced to it, despite numerous allegations against the man, could suggest that there is a greater conspiracy to secure his exit from Assam.
The final NRC draft, that was published on August 31, left over 19 lakh people stateless in Assam. However, many of the key stakeholders as well as members of the ruling BJP party have cried foul and alleged that illegals have been included in the list that had been conceptualized with the intention of wiping them out.
