NALBARI: Supporters of Barkhetri BJP MLA Narayan Deka today allegedly attacked the vehicle of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi in Borbhag Kalag area of Nalbari district.
Led by No 47/1 Upar Borbhag panchayat’s BJP president Mantu Kalita, a group of BJP workers attacked Gogoi’s convoy raising ‘Narayan Deka Zindabad’ slogans. Sources said the attackers had BJP flags in their hands.
Gogoi is stated to be safe. Sources said no one was physically assaulted and no vehicle was damaged.

Condemning the incident, AJP has alleged that the BJP was directly involved in the attack. “It shows the frustration of the BJP and it proves that the party is jittery of the AJP’s rise in the state,” the AJP said reacting to the attack.
The AJP had earlier too alleged that the BJP had tried to prevent AJP and Raijor Dal from holding public meetings in lower Assam.
The AJP and the Raijor Dal have been floated on the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 plank.
