After the Election Commission announced the schedule of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday proclaimed confidently that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies will win between 19-21 seats out of total 25 seats in the Northeast. He also expressed confidence that the margin of victory for the party would be bigger this time around.
Addressing the media at an event, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “In Northeast, there are total of 25 seats and BJP along with its allies which are the part of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), will win 19 to 21 seats. From Assam, BJP will win 9-11 seats.”
Moreover, he added that if the party gives him the ticket, he too shall be contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
It is to be mentioned that the elections in the Northeast will be held in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23.
