The BJP on Wednesday took out a rally and gheraoed the Congress head office, Rajiv Bhavan, in Guwahati to lodge protest against the Congress for allegedly spreading lies against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Rafale deal. However, a section of the protestors had no idea about the reasons behind the protest. Most of them were from Lower Assam.
A protesting woman, who belongs to the Bodo community, said she had come for the “Bodo” cause. Similarly Ruani Bodo, an elderly protestor, said, “We are poor and we have nothing. We have come to see what they give us”.
Boleswar, a protestor from Lower Assam, said he had come to protest against the Congress’s “propaganda” but failed to say what it was about.
“I came as the Congress alleged the Modi government indulged in corruption in the procurement of Royal flight,” another protestor from Nalbari, Pranab Barman, said mixing up Rafale with Royal.
Nazir Ali, Md. Chand Ali and Kumud Das said they did not know why the protest was being staged.
“I suddenly came to take part in the meeting. I don’t know the reason behind the protest,” said protestor Dipali Saikia of Kamalpur.
Kabindra Baishya of Hajo said, “We came to take part in a dharna against the Congress party”.
Pranita Devi of Kamalpur said, “I came to protest against the Congress’s lies against Modiji”. Asked what the lies were about, she said she had no idea about those.
There were, however, many protestors who knew why the protest was staged.
