GUWAHATI: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Ramen Deka todaysought a National Investigation Agency (NIA) inquiry into the tenure of 'viral cop' Anand Mishra as the superintendent of police of Dhubri district.
"The image of the present SP, Nagaon is synthetic and media-generated. A proper enquiry of his tenure as Dhubri SP is required and it will reveal many things. NIA investigation is the need of the hour," Deka wrote in a tweet.
It is unclear why Deka, who served as the MP of Nagaon for two terms, is seeking an investigation into Mishra who is being touted as a hero among the police force.

Anand Mishra, formerly the superintendent of Dhubri police, who has been transferred as Nagaon police chief, has become a social media star.
The citizens of Dhubri have gave an emotional farewell to their favorite SP Mishra as hundreds of locals joined him in front of his residence before his departure to Nagaon.
Youths crying, requesting him to stay back, felicitating Mishra with Asomiya Gamosa, asking him for autograph and clicking selfie were some emotional moments captured in a video, rare scenes seen in real life and replicating a scene from the famous film Gangajal.
Deka's post comes days after police arrested Jatin Das, a deputy superintendent of police (border) in Dhubri, on charges of carrying out a drug racket in nexus with drug peddlers.
