The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary on Monday laid the foundation for the reconstruction of the Domgaon-Kukurmari road in a function organised at Choto Nilibari near Aai river in Chirang district on Monday.
Referring to the flood and communication problem faced by the people of that area after the flood water of river Aai washed away that portion of the road in 2017, he said that the project will now solve the problem.
The Bodoland Territorial Council Chief directed the engineers of PWD and other officials of the concerned department to monitor the project regularly so as to ensure that the implementation of the said project is completed within the stipulated time frame. He further added that he would also review the project personally, from time-to-time.
He further said the paper works and Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for protection works from flood and erosion of twenty-nine rivers and tributaries flowing through four districts of BTC area have been prepared, and sent to the central government for necessary sanctions.
It may be mentioned here that the scheme is an initiative and funded by the Ministry of Development of North East Region (DONER), India under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS).
The reconstruction of road cum protection works from flood and erosion of river Aai will be done for an estimated amount of Rs. 30 crores at the flood washed away portion measuring 13.10 kms, informed Minister Chandan Brahma.
