The body of a suspected rebel of Paresh Baruah faction of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA-Independent) was recovered by the police on Thursday.
According to reports reaching here, some fishermen had spotted the body lying near Majuli ghat in Jagun bordering Arunachal Pradesh in Tinsukia district. The fishermen later informed the police.
The police said the body was yet to be identified. A grenade and a magazine were found at the site.
It may be recalled that the Army and a group of ULFA insurgents were locked in a fierce gunfight in the area on September 24. Earlier, there were reports that two extremists were killed in the incident.
