The troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) rescued 11 people of the Assam-West Bengal border-area village Andran Singimari, who were stranded because of floods.
The BSF provided medical assistance to women of the border village of Khetabarkuttiin, the bordering area of Coochbehar district in West Bengal.
BSF troops of Border Out Post Padma are deployed in District Cooch Behar (WB) under BSF Guwahati Frontier and are constantly patrolling the bordering areas.
SHO Sitai S D Bhattacharya and some villagers of Andran Singimari village reached the BSF camp 'Padma' and requested the BSF Jawans and BSF speed boat to rescue the people who were trapped in the flood and to distribute relief material.
The BSF personnel provided all support as was required for rescue and relief work with the help of the BSF, 11 people of the village were rescued and were sent to relief centers in 18 Joni Primary school under observation of BDO Sitai. Relief material was distributed to flood affected people.
In another operation of the BSF, a woman border-dweller, namely Mihinul Bibi (32) fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital by the BSF. The border-area people appreciated the work of the BSF in prompt help.
It is to be mentioned that the BSF is the largest Border Guarding Force in the world.
