Bornali Gogoi has indeed brought pride to the state after being selected as the first woman from the state of Assam as a wing commander of Indian Sir Force (IAF).
Bornali, who hails from Lakhimpur district of Assam, joined the force as a pilot officer on May 27, 1996.
She was later promoted as the Flying Officer, Flight Lieutenant and recently promoted as the Wing Commander of IAF.
Making her the first woman from the state to be selected as the wing commander.
In 1985, Bornali secured the 16th position in her matriculation exams from Jorhat Higher Secondary School.
She completed her higher secondary from Cotton College, Guwahati. She then pursued engineering in the branch of Electronics and Telecommunication from Assam Engineering College.

She also put her mark there by securing the first position in her class and later completed her master’s degree in engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science.
