Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has just confirmed that 3 more people from Assam have tested positive for the new coronavirus or COVID-19. This was just relayed by the Minister via a tweet that was posted on his official handle earlier tonight. According to the Minister, 2 out of the 3 cases have links to the Nizamuddin Markaz congregation held in New Delhi in March last. With this announcement, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has risen to 23.
"Alert ~Three more data-focusable="true">#Covid_19 positive cases have been confirmed, one each from Kamrup (metro),Kamrup and Marigaon taking the total number in Assam to 23. Two out of these three cases are of patients who are related to data-focusable="true">#NizamuddinMarkaz event", the tweet posted by Biswa Sarma read.
According to reports, one of them is a resident of Spanish Garden in Zoo Road locality.
It may be mentioned here that earlier in the day Biswa Sarma, via Twitter, had announced 4 more positive cases of the virus. Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that four more patients have tested positive for the coronavirus: 3 are from Nalbari and 1 of the patients is from South Salmari district.
The Assam Minister has said that all 4 cases are associated with the Nizamuddin Markaz incident.
