BREAKING | Court dismisses rape allegations against MP Rajen Gohain, likely to contest election

Guwahati, March 25, 2019:

In the latest development, allegations of rape against Railway Minister Rajen Gohain have been dropped by the Gauhati High Court during the hearing that was scheduled on Monday.

According to reports, there has a mutual understanding between the complainants and the charges have been dropped today. This builds the chance of the railway minister to contest for the Lok Sabha elections from Nowgong constituency.

It is to be mentioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not declared the candidate for the Nowgong Constituency amid lingering hope that the Minister will get free of the charges as Gohain is the strongest candidate from the region for the BJP party.
