GUWAHATI: The Assam government today revoked its February 18 circular discontinuing COVID-19 tests on arrivals at airports and railway stations in the state from March 1 and decided to continue with the tests mandatorily.
In a circular issued today by the state health department, it has been cited that since COVID-19 is stated to be on a gradual increasing trend in several states and since the vaccination process has just started and it would take some time to inoculate a large section of people, the mandatory tests would continue in the state.
The circular also mentioned the discovery of a new strain of COVID in parts of the country, and said it would be essential to continue precautions to contain spread of the dreaded virus in the state.
