BONGAIGAON: Amritraj, son of the former Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, has been found in Bongaigaon after a massive manhunt. Amritraj had gone 'missing' yesterday from the Reality Public School in Kokrajhar district.

"The missing youth has been located in Bongaigaon. More information is being collected at the moment," a source informed Inside Northeast.

According to reports, the former MP's son -- who was staying at the boarding school in Kokrajhar -- climbed over a wall and was aided by other students in doing so. Local police had also been checking CCTV footage to decode the mystery.

The missing youth's father, who recently joined the BJP party and resigned from the Rajya Sabha, ruled out the possibility of "kidnapping". "His classmates have revealed that he wished to leave -- perhaps he was not happy here. Therefore, we are of the belief that he left because he was upset. Perhaps something had happened at the boarding school that prompted him to leave."

The youth had earlier expressed a desire to go to either New Delhi or Kolkata. The Kokrajhar police had reached out to police units in both the cities for information about the former MP's son.

This is a developing story.
