Much controversy has been associated with Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Lok Sabha election prospects. First, rumors were doing the rounds that the Finance Minister would contest from either Guwahati or Tezpur. Afterward, it was reported that Himanta had zeroed in on the Tezpur Constituency, much to the chagrin of veteran politician Ram Prasad Sarmah, who resigned from the party on Saturday.
Now, after all the hullaballoo over Himanta Biswa Sarma’s nomination, reports claim that the Minister will not be allowed to contest any of the 14 Constituencies as he has allegedly been vetoed by the BJP President Amit Shah himself. Now it remains to be seen whether the Finance Minister turns into a proverbial 'Devdas' if he is not allowed to contest the election.
