Ending speculation of "will he or won't he" enter the world of politics, former All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) leader Promod Boro has formally joined the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL).
Boro's entry into Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) politics is expected to shape up the region's dynamics ahead of the region's ensuing polls.
Promod Boro's entry into the Urkhao Gwra Brahma-led UPPL is expected to give the party a shot-in-the-arm ahead of the polls in the 40-member Council.
Talking to Inside Northeast, UPPL supremo U G Brahma said, "Boro joined the UPPL today at a UPPL convention in Bijni that is still going on. Promod Boro has been appointed as the Working President of the UPPL."
Brahma also opined that the adding of the beloved ABSU leader is sure to bolster the UPPL party. "For sure it will impact the election. The ABSU was one of the key signatories of the January 27 Accord and Bodo wants to ensure that all the clauses of the Accord are implemented in the region."
