Mehtab Uddin Ahmed: World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is celebrated from August 1-7 every year to encourage and spread awareness on breastfeeding around the globe was observed at Dhubri on Sunday.
Today at Dhubri NHM Conference hall 'Breastfeeding Week' was observed in presence of Joint Director of Health Dhubri, Addl CM&HO(FW), Superintendent DCH, lactating mothers, and Urban ASHAS.
The global campaign drives the goal with a focused theme, this year 2021 theme for World breastfeeding week is "Protect Breastfeeding : A Shared Responsibility". This highlights "the links between breastfeeding and survival, health and wellbeing of women, children and nations".
With the downfall of health during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important to abide by the WBW concept of ‘building back better' and re-create a warm chain of support for breastfeeding at all levels of society (both individual and public level).
Breastfeeding not only nourishes the health of the child and women but establishes a healthy future for the whole society.
