A group of unidentified miscreants attacked the vehicle of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary’s wife amid discussions of BTC election, which is about a month away.
The attack has brought the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) under suspicion. Mohilary’s wife, Seuli doubts the student body behind the attack.
“I had gone to the Shiv Mandir to inspect the preparations of the Ultapani Shiva Temple. When we were returning from the Mandir, some unknown miscreants pelted stones at us. We were shocked. I suspect the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) behind the attack. They have been anyway attacking my husband on social media and my sister has also been maligned,” said Seuli Mohilary.

She added, “I doubt them because I have travelled to the Mandir without escort earlier. I was never attacked. There has to be political interest behind the attack.”
The miscreants pelted stones at the vehicle of Seui Brahma Mohilary when she, along with her son, Jaan Mohilary was returning from Ultapani Shiva Temple near Indo-Bhutan border. At a time when the BTC elections are being discussed at length especially post the Bodo Peace Agreement, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary has been the subject of discussion.
Amid the uncertainty looming over the election candidates’ fate, the attack on Mohilary’s family has raised questions on security concerns.

The security guard who was travelling along with the family, said, “We were attacked in the middle of the road, in the border area. They pelted stones at us from two sides. The vehicle’s glasses are damaged and there are scratches on the sides. Although we had the security escort, it was way ahead of us. IN our vehicle, there was no police personnel. We didn’t see the faces but we were attacked from the two sides.”
“We condemn the attack on Mohilary’s vehicle. Seuli has always been a social worker. The Police should investigate the matter and punish the culprits so that such incidents over a woman never happens in future,” said a local.
Investigation is going on and the Police have assured that the culprits would soon be caught.
