BAKSA: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro today said the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) demand for revision of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Accord was ridiculous and unwarranted.

“It is a demand by those who have themselves signed the accord. The demand for its revision a year later is something ridiculous. People will laugh at those people,” Boro said reacting NDFB leader Dhiren Boro’s this morning demand for revision of the BTR Accord.

Boro also said it was not a demand of the NDFB cadres, but a political conspiracy purportedly by the Bodoland People’s front (BPF).

The four factions of the NDFB held a separate BTR Accord anniversary at Tamulpur today. The BTC chief alleged that BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary, Assam minister Chandan Brahma, former BTC deputy chief Khampha Bargoyari and BPF leader Anjali Daimari attended the NDFB conclave today.

“If all the NDFB factions were not brought to the negotiation table before signing the accord, they should not have signed it. Nobody was shackled to sign the peace agreement. Now an agreement has been reached. Peace has returned to the BTR. People have reconciled and a government has been formed. It should not be politicised.

“This agreement is for the development and security of the BTR and for the betterment of the present and future of a large section of the population ... The NDFB cadres can now stay with their families. Hiren Boro seems to be not happy with it. He wants all NDFB cadres to perish,” Boro said accusing Dhiren Boro of speaking on behalf of the opposition BPF.

Dhiren Boro had this morning alleged that the accord would not be a solution to issues concerning a large cross-section of people of the BTR. He questioned if it was peace accord, why was NDFB supremo Ranjan Daimari and other cadres still behind bars.

The BTC chief executive member also counted the benefits being extended to the NDFB cadres under the BTR Accord.
