BTC Election: Groom dressed up for wedding stands in queue to exercise voting right

BAKSA: A truly bizarre sight greeted the voters at a polling center at Bau Haka in Bangali Para in Assam's Baksa district. A man, seemingly in his mid-20's, dressed up head-to-toe in full groom regalia, could be seen queueing up with the rest of the voters.

Naturally, all eyes drifted to this uncommon phenomenon and this curious development soon became the talk of the town.

The man in the groom's outfit later revealed that he had come out to vote on his wedding day because he did not want to pass up the chance to exercise his right.

Bokul Pohril, a resident of Bengali Para in Baksa district, set an example in responsibility as a citizen by going to vote at the polling centre on the day of his marriage. Truly setting an example, the groom was accompanied by family and went to the voting centre in an SUV vehicle adorned with ribbons for the wedding.

"The fact that it is my marriage has not deterred me from voting. I am happy that I have been able to vote as a citizen and rightfully exercise my franchise. I hope that the candidate that I voted for wins the election," the groom said, adding, "I want everyone to exercise their right so that not a single vote goes to waste."
