Baksa: Issuing a 'war cry' ahead of the polls in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in Baksa district, Assam BJP President Ranjeet Dass on Sunday announced that not less than 500 rallies will be held in support of the BJP candidates contesting the BTC polls.
Speaking on the alleged rifts between the BJP and traditional allies BPF, Dass said, "We did not contest the Pachayat elections with the AGP despite being their allies. Our alliance is for the Vidhan Sabha and discussions will be held to determine whether that will continue. The national leadership of the party will take the decision in this regard. In regional elections such as the BTC polls, the state level unit of the BJP usually takes the decisions."
Dass said that in the ensuing days, the party's workers will conduct 500 rallies in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). "People from all over Assam will particpate in the rallies for our 26 candidates," Dass assured.

The Assam BJP President further added that all the autonomous Councils are under the control of the BJP and the BTC too shall be ruled by the saffron until after the polls.
In the ensuing BTC polls, all the 40 elected seats in the Bodoland Territorial Council will be up for election. The elections were due to be held on 4 April 2020 but were postponed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The term of the current council was due to expire on 27 April, 2020. After the expiry of the Government headed by Hagrama Mohilary-led BPF, Assam Governor Jagadish Mukhi took charge of the Council. The election will now be held in the month of December, 2020.
