CHIRANG: The district administration of Chirang today cancelled all permissions to hold Bihu, Bwisagu and Bishwa besides other functions in the district amid a dramatic surge in COVID-19 cases in the district.
The decision comes after the district witnessed a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the last few days.
The district administration also appealed to the people to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols set by the state government.
On the other hand, the district administration has talked tough regarding taking strict action against anyone found violating the the COVID-19 protocols.
Chirang has recorded 127 COVID-19 positive cases in the second wave of the pandemic, including 13 yesterday.

The district currently have 86 active COVID-19 cases. While 38 of them are undergoing treatment at different hospitals, 48 are in home isolation and three critically ill patients have been referred to hospitals in other districts for better treatment.
A total of 17,400 samples for COVID-19 have been tested in the district so far.
