In view of the situation of unrest in the state against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, at least 20 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs have reached Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s residence at Brahmaputra Guest House in Guwahati demanding the immediate implementation of the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

Earlier, the delegation sat for a discussion on the ongoing unrest at Prasanta Phukan’s residence from where they headed towards the CM’s residence.
The BJP leaders met the CM in demand of immediate implementation of the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, and providing safeguards to the “Assamese” language.
After meeting the CM, BJP leader Padma Hazarika said that the delegation has demanded the Assamese language to be protected, and be declared as the state language. He added that after looking at the situation in the state, the delegation has urged CM Sonowal to immediately take measures to curb the unrest in the state.
