C(A)A Row: 'Popular Front of India' President Detained for Alleged Involvement in Dispur Vandalism

Guwahati, December 18, 2019:

After the state Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hinted at the involvement of the members of Popular Front of India (PFI) of vandalizing property at Dispur in Guwahati, Kamrup Police has detained PFI's Assam president Aminul Haque.

Aminul Haque has been detained from Hatigaon’s Jilmil Path. The police raided the house of the PFI state president and seized a laptop, a large number of sticks, and several documents from his possession.

Meanwhile, the organization’s Hatigaon’s General Secretary Mojamil Haque has also been detained by the police. He was arrested from the Hatigaon Office of the organization.

It is to be mentioned here the Union Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday alleged the involvement of the Youth Congress leaders and the Popular Front of India leaders in the clash that broke out between the police and the students who initiated a “Dispur Chalo” programme on December 11, against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill turned Act.
