Hailakandi Police and Static Surveillance Team (SST) seized Rs 5 lakh in cash and 150 gram of narcotic drugs following the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Superintendent of Police, Mohneesh Mishra disclosed that regular checking of vehicles at different entry and exit points by Hailakandi Police and SST have resulted in the seizure of unaccounted cash of over Rs.5 lakh and 150 gram of narcotic drugs.
Mishra further revealed that 1,857 litres of IMFL were seized and 350 litres of country liquor destroyed.
No illegal arms were recovered so far.
Mishra said the police administration would take appropriate action if genuine complaints were made and appealed to the voters to cooperate by providing proper information.
