The Coordination Committee of Tribal Organization (CCTO) of Assam has called a 24-hours bandh on January 11 from 5:00 am in the morning.
The 'bandh' has been called in protest against the Constitutional (Scheduled Tribes) Amendment Bill, 2019.
It is to be noted that the recent decisions of the Cabinet Committee and the BJP government have created an alarming situation in the state by disturbing peace and harmony and threatening the identity of the Assamese jati.
The people of Assam have been protesting against the amendment of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 that was proposed to be amended in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday but the mass protests were successful in postponing it. It may be mentioned that January 8 had been called a 'bandh' by the AASU, NESO and many other organizations to protest the contentious Bill.
