BAKSA: Pandemonium ruled at a COVID-19 vaccine centre in Assam today as a massive crowd thronged with scant regard for pandemic appropriate behaviour -- such as mask-wearing and social distancing.
In Gandhibari village under Mahkuma of Baksa district, multitudes thronged the COVID-19 vaccine centre at a time when the vaccine process has been extended due to a shortage of jabs.
Things got so bad, in fact, that security personnel had to step in to prevent the people from creating an absolute ruckus.
Rewind a few days back, and several villages in Gandhibari had been declared as containment zones due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
This would perhaps explain the fear psychosis of the locals and their mad scramble to get vaccinated.
