CHENGA: Chenga Congress candidate Sukur Ali Ahmed could not file his nomination today for the Assam assembly elections after a section of his rallying supporters vandalised his vehicle on his way to file nomination at Barpeta.

According to sources, a section of supporters turned violent when fuel refill coupons for motorbikes fell short and suddenly attacked the vehicle Ahmed was travelling. The incident took place near Shila Gaon.

The Maruti Gypsy vehicle was badly damaged in the attack. The agitated mob also pushed the vehicle off the road into a roadside gorge.
