Chhath Puja, one of the major festivals of the Bihari community in across the nation, was celebrated across the Northeast, and primarily Assam, which has a sizable Bihari population.
Meanwhile, in Tinsukia, another district of the state with a sizable population of Biharis, the ritual was observed with pomp and show, with thousands upon thousands of people thronging the festival grounds. In Tinsukia, the festival was celebrated at the Devi Pokhri, Nava pokhri, Rail Colony, along with several other ghats along with the necessary rituals. The people who were on a fast were well taken care of and at the Devi Pokhri, a massive gathering was seen.
The people looked towards the setting sun with reverence in their eyes, and the festive fervor was maintained at the ghats, along with dazzling decorations, and articifial green grass carpets. The festival will come to a close with the rising sun on the 3rd of November.
In Guwahati, the festival is being celebrated on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra, with the revellers paying their respects to the sun God -- before sunrise and after sunset. A huge congregation gathers on the banks of the river, with the worshipers paying their respects to the deity amid song, dance, laughter, and gaiety.
The festival was also observed in Moran town in the district by the massive crowds with an inspiring display by the massive pious crowds.

Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival historically native to the Indian subcontinent, more specifically, the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and the Madhesh region of Nepal.

Prayers and religious rituals, including puja and prasad, bathing in the Ganges, and fasting takes place during the festival.
