Guwahati, November 1, 2018:

China has decided to withdraw the ban trade of animal body parts, mainly rhino horn and bones of tiger.

The decision to revoke the 25-year-old ban has created havoc among the wildlife conservationists as it would force both the endangered species into extinction.

According to reports, China’s State Council informed that the ban which was enacted in 1993 would be partially lifted to allow tiger and rhino parts to be used for medicine, scientific research and ‘cultural exchanges’, highlighting trade to be strictly controlled and the products must come from animals in captivity.

The wildlife activists are concerned that the demand for the animals will lure poachers into the reserve forests of Assam for the well-known one-horned rhinos and tigers.
