The vague stand of the Assam Government on Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016  has agitated the people and protests against the same are being observed in the state. The Mattack Yuva Chatra Sanmilan of Tinsukia District logged a protest today at 37 National Highway burning the effigy of PM Narendra Modi and CM of Assam,  Sarbananda Sonowal. They carried on the protest chanting slogans against government. A serial protest has been going on by the members of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti(KMSS) in association of the Study Circle at Guwahati University. The members of KMSS took to distributing of pamphlets among the people at the University to spread awareness of the ongoing upheaval of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, while the Study Circle took signatures of the students on MoU to be sent to the concerned authorities.

While a large protest was also witnessed  in Charaideo district against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 where the effigy of CM Sarbananda Sonowal was burnt alive. The protest was organized jointly by All Assam Students Union,  Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, All Tai Ahom Students Union, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti,  Sonari Muslim Youth Forum, Sonari Sadar Masjid Jamaat, Marwari Yuva Morcha and many other ethnic groups and local people. They spoke staunchly that if the government is stuck on it's own,  then the organizations will be forced to launch serial movement.
