In Tamulpur's South Gandhibari, Gandhibari bazaar, Dhekiputa, and Latibari, the locals staged mock hangings of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
The Assam Chief Minister has had to face the fury of activists in recent weeks, due to his alleged 'silence' over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Recently, Sonowal even had to flee from his Dibrugarh residence in a chopper after All Assam Students' Union (AASU) activists arrived in front of house to protest the CAB.
Apart from Sonowal, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were also 'hanged' by the irate Assamese.
Apart from the BJP's top honchos, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Atul Bora also found his place in this 'hall of shame'.

Dummies with the 'faces' of the leaders were strung up and hanged by the noose in these demonstrations. Soon after, authorities gathered at the spot to apprehend the suspects, but as per reports, no one has been arrested so far.
The stir against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill has gained momentum in Assam in recent times, with the tabulation of the Bill in Parliament inching closer.
