The peasant leader said that the KMSS will oppose the Citizenship Bill tooth-and-nail. "The BJP believes that a section of the Assamese public supports the Bill, but, not a singer Assamese person supports the CAB from within. Nobody who supports the CAB can be an Assamese", he said.
Akhil further stated that the RSS and BJP, in later years, will beg for forgiveness in front of the Assamese people. "If not, the people of Assam will drive away the RSS and BJP from the state", he said. The peasant leader further urged the indigenous organizations of the state to come together in opposition to the Bill. Gogoi further stated that Assam and Tripura will have to bear the impact of the Bill, as the other Northeastern states have refused to accept the Bill.
"Last time, the ST Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha, but wasn't raised. This time also, it will not be raised", Gogoi said, in reference to the Bill that seeks to grant ST status to 6 prominent communities in Assam.
