Denouncing the BJP leaders from Assam such as CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the farmers who have arrived from all the corners of the state, also held up banners with the sign: "Assam rejects CAB."

The protest at Dispur is being led from the forefront by the peasant leader Akhil Gogoi, who is marshaling his farmer troops and mobilizing them as a collective united against the CAB. Speaking to Inside Northeast, Gogoi said that the CAB is being opposed as it is "unconstitutional, illegal, immoral, and communal Bill". The peasant leader forewarned that if the Bill is accepted, the demography of the Northeast will be changed forever due to the influx of illegal Bangladeshis.

"If this Bill is accepted, all the political power will go to foreigners", Gogoi said, adding that all the seats of political power will be determined by the illegal foreigners, if the Citizenship Bill comes into effect.

Warning that the Bill will also threaten the land rights of the indigenous people, Akhil said that the people of Assam will never accept this Bill, and said that if this Bill is passed, they BJP will be "uprooted" from the region.
