GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the release of the employee of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Ritul Saikia who was abducted by The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent ( ULFA-I ).
CM Sarma took to Twitter and wrote,"Heartily welcome release of Ritul Saikia, ONGC employee abducted by ULFA, early today! Grateful to Honble UHM for constant guidance. Hope an era of peace & development is firmly established in the state with the cooperation of one and all. Pray to Almighty for His Blessings."
Ritul Saikia was released by the banned outfit at 7. 5 am this morning along the India-Myanmar border.
On April 21, three ONGC workers, including Saikia, were kidnapped from a rig site in Sivasagar.
Security forces in Nagaland rescued the other two abductees, Mohini Mohan Gogoi and Alakesh Saikia, three days later.
Ritul Saikia is a junior engineer assistant in ONGC.
