Congress files police complaint against BJP men for impersonating as scribes

Guwahati (Assam), September 26, 2018:

Assam Congress leaders Bobbeeta Sharma and Dulu Ahmed lodged a police complaint against BJP workers for impersonating as journalists.

Sharma said she had received a call from one Robin, who had introduced himself as a journalist of NDTV.

She said, “Manufacturing and fabricating fake and hate news is the forte of the BJP which they use during the election time.”

The caller had sought information about the East Guwahati constituency from where she was a candidate in the 2016 Assembly election. Similar details were sought about Dispur, West Guwahati, Jalukbari, Palashbari and Hajo for exit poll purpose of 2019 elections, she added.

However, on cross checking of the Delhi numbers from MTNL directory through the internet, Sharma discovered it to be a number of the BJP office.

Sharma said similar calls were also made to Congress legislature party leader Debabrata Saikia, Pradesh Mahila Congress general secretary Bismita Gogoi besides Ahmed.
