Congress leader defects to BJP

Guwahati, November 12, 2018:

Former media advisor to three-time former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and general secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Bichitra Choudhury, joined the BJP on Sunday.

The event took place in the presence of BJP’s state president Ranjeet Kumar Dass.

Choudhury said he did not join the party with a hope to become an MLA or a minister. He said he was impressed with the BJP’s ideologies.

Meanwhile, Kiswar Ara Laskar, Silchar’s Block Congress vice-president, submitted her resignation on Saturday evening. She is likely to contest the upcoming panchayat elections as an Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate.
