RANGIA: Congress leader Parsha Bob Kalita, son of former MLA Uttara Kalita, has filed a complaint with Rangia Police Station against Kamalpur BJP candidate Diganta Kalita accusing the latter of intimidating with dire consequences for supporting Congress candidate Kishor Bhattacharjya in the Assam assembly elections.
In the complaint, lodged yesterday, Parsha has alleged that Diganta Kalita had tried to attack him on the night of second phase of polling on April 1, but he managed to escape. Parsha alleged that Diganta Kalita called him up around 11.30 at night enquired about his whereabout apart from verbally abusing him.
After he shared information of his location, Parsha stated that he was advised by his party workers to move away from there. “… when I was about to leave I could see a group of boys led by Diganta Kalita approaching my vehicle with some blunt weapons. I somehow escaped from that place,” Parsha mentioned in the complaint.

Parsha also alleged that during the phone call, Diganta Kalita had threatened him of dire consequences after May 2.
“Sri Diganta Kalita has criminally conspired to kill me and my family and has made all preparations for its execution,” Parsha further stated, adding the Diganta Kalita was a “habitual offender” with several cases already registered against him.
Diganta Kalita was recently accused of obstructing police from performing duty when he shoved a policeman away to allow entry of one of his supporters breaching COVID-19 protocol of not allowing more than two supporters at the time of filing nomination.
