CONGRESS MLA CRITICIZES ASSAM HEALTH MINISTER FOR INFANTS DEATHS

Guwahati, November 10, 2018:

Congress Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rupjyoti Kurmi has criticized Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on the deaths of 20 infants in a week at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH).

The Mariani legislator who visited the hospital said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma should resign from his post taking responsibility of the deaths. As the Health Minister, it is his sheer negligence that has led to the deaths of the infants.”

The MLA also accused the hospital staff of dereliction of duties.

“In the past two years, not a single meeting has been held for the welfare of the hospital,” said Kurmi.
