The monsoon session of the Assam Vidhan Sabha Assembly kick-started from today which will continue till August 1.
The first day of the Vidhan Sabha witnessed unrest situations as the opposition staged a protest at the beginning hours of the Assembly session against the flood situation in Assam.

The Congress MLAs including Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia protested holding placards inside the Assembly.
Congress MLAs wanted to discuss on the flood issue pertaining in the state immediately.
Though the speaker of the Assembly, Hitendranath Goswami asked the Congress leaders to maintain the decorum, however, they walked out of the Assembly.
On the other hand, Congress leader Kamakhya Dey Purkayashtya staged a sit-in protest inside the Assembly house holding placard. The Congress leader protested against government’s ignorance on Barak Valley of Assam.
A total of 10 Bills are set to be raised in this monsoon session. A special discussion will be taken up pertaining to Barak.
