Silchar, September 6, 2019:

Congress party members and cultural and social organizations took out a protest rally to oppose the building of an amusement park of the Silchar Municipal Board at Gandhi Bagh today. Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika was laying the foundation stone of the park.

Reacting to the protest, Minister Pijush Hazarika said, "What’s the point of protesting? Congress is anyway not in India at present and 2-3 people protesting is not a big issue.

"In the past, I have showed my red-eye to the Congress, but if Silchar’s cultural and social organizations want to say something to me, discussions are welcome", he said.

The Minister further stated that he will try to solve their issues. "This park is not in good condition now", he said, adding, "If we get a good park here, none will have problems. I am saying this from the post of Minister of the Municipality dept. After constructing some markets, the municipality earns an income. Using this, our employees are paid. I will not oppose this. But I would certainly say that Silchar’s heritage is a must, and I have been told that board resolution is there, if not, then we will discuss", he added.
