GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party state unit has accused Congress and the Popular Front of India (PFI) of working together to demolish the cultural identity of Assam.
"To make Assam unrest, PFI has a plan to collect Rs 10 from approximately 70 lakhs of Muslims of Assam which will sum up to Rs 7 crore. There are chances of them using that sum for inciting anti-government and anti-national violence. PFI has collected Rs 28 lakhs from Dholpur alone and it was very clearly stated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma," said Assam BJP spokesperson Ranjeev Kumar Sharma.
Sharma added, "The same PFI has incited violence during the anti-CAA movement. Incidents like fire setting in front of the secretariat, attack on Kalakhetra and demolishing 'Xorai' were done by PFI as planned by Congress. Assam Youth Congress chief Kamrul Islam Choudhury was arrested for his involvement in such incidents as well. Currently, Congress and PFI working hand in hand to make Assam unrest."
