Guwahati: Stepping up its campaigning ahead of the ensuing Assembly polls in Assam, the Congress party has released an anti-CAA anthem that urges voters to cast their ballots in favour of the Grand Old Party.
The anthemic song, sung energetically by young Assamese singers (Ambar Das, Arupjyoti Baruah, Nilotpal Bora, Shankuraj Konwar, Sampriti Goswami, and Sarmistha Chakravorthy) tells of the BJP's "lies" and channels the "aah oi aah" (come hey come) slogan to urge the public to vote 'against' the CAA. It ends with a clip of Rahul Gandhi asserting that "no matter what happens, the CAA will not happen."
The video of the song contains scenes from the anti-CAA movement which rocked Assam after the controversial Act was passed by both the Houses of the Parliament. Channeling the rage of the movement that spilled over onto the streets, the Congress in its latest clip, projects the CAA as the main reason why the ruling dispensation must be voted out of power.

"A compilation that perfectly encapsulates disillusionment amongst people in Assam subjected by the power-hungry BJP Govt to fake promises & oppression. Not anymore, because INCAssam is coming to power and CAA won’t happen," Gaurav Gogoi, who is the Chairman of the Congress' manifesto committee, wrote on Twitter, sharing a clip of the song.
Pradyut Bordoloi, another senior Congressman, who was a part of Tarun Gogoi's Cabinet, said that the new anthem "echoes the sentiment of our people."
"This anthem echoes the sentiment of our people - oppressed, cheated & identity snatched by a despotic BJP regime! Winds of change are blowing & Assam shall wake up to progressive governance -INCAssam is coming & CAA will be history," he wrote in a tweet, sharing the clip.
The clip was also shared by the Assam Congress President Ripun Bora, who claimed that "their anguish is deep-rooted."
