CONGRESS STAGES PROTEST IN GUWAHATI, SEVERAL TOP LEADERS ARRESTED

Guwahati, November 8, 2018:

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Thursday staged a protest against demonetization in front of Reserve Bank in Guwahati.

The protestors led by APCC president Ripun Bora chanted slogans against the demonetization move by BJP-led NDA government, which completed two years on November 8.

The protestors entered into a scuffle with the police while trying to beak the barricade. They were however stopped by the police.

Congress leaders like former CM Tarun Gogoi, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, Former Minister Rockybul Hussain and Kaliabor Member of Parliament Gaurav Gogoi were present during the protest.

Several protestors including Ripun Bora and Debabrata Saikia were arrested by the police.

Terming November 8 as a black in the history of the country, Debabrata Saikia said that demonetization have adversely affected the common people, while benefitting the capitalists immensely.
